Thank you once again for attending the first Oregon Students United Summit in January. The event was an overwhelming success with over 200 students and educators in attendance from across the state of Oregon, providing input on a legislative proposal to create more opportunities for youth to elevate their voices towards positive change in our state. We made history!
Since the event, the planning team has worked to review all the data and input that each of you provided. The team found common themes based on what was shared in order to improve the draft proposal. Some of the major themes were: increasing the number of youth and representation; supporting youth through mentoring; removing barriers to accessing and participating in this leadership opportunity; updating the scope of work; adding elements of accountability.
Your feedback helped shape the proposal in the following ways:
Our next step in this process is to help you share your youth leadership story and engage in the policymaking process.
We are excited to continue this work with you all knowing that your voices and leadership are honored and vital to this process.
